Ruindolon was born in the closing days of the Second Age to Adulomion Earendil, a bowyer, archer and veteran of the War of Wrath; and Manwathiel Vandathiel, a scribe and scholar. He was born in Imladris and was raised in the life of the warrior, his fathers hope that Ruindolon one day follow in his ancestral footsteps and battle alongside the rulers of Elvendom should darkness encroach upon the world again.

He was present as an archer during the Battle of Dagorland, surviving the onslaught primarily due to his being in the ranks further to the rear of the Elven battle formations. He was then selected as a Watcher and guardian of Imladris until such time as he felt fit to leave The Valley to assist with the situation then occuring in Edhelion, where he was present at the fall of that city.

Following the fall of Edhelion and the establishment of the Refuge of Edhelion, he stayed nigh the encampment at Edhelion Watch with the sons of his Master, the Elves Elrohir and Elladan.
