A Noldorin elf, short by the standards of her kin at just six feet tall, with a slight frame to boot. A sharp face and sharper eyes are framed by hair cropped short to her jawline, though the work is choppy as if done by the end of a blade.

Around her neck sits a necklace of four rings - two silver and two gold. Strapped across her shoulder is a satchel filled to the brim with papers, maps, and books. On her opposite hip is an ornate sheath holding a silver elven dagger.

Background

  • Name;
    • Alphaear
      • "swan-sea" (S.)

  • History
    • First Age
      • Born at the Mouth of Sirion in F.A. 523, Alphaear was young - even by elvish standards - when the tragedy of the Third Kinslaying ravaged the havens that had been formed from survivors of Doriath and Gondolin. She and her mother, Bronaduieth, escaped, albeit narrowly.

      • They fled to Lindon to reunite with her father, who had gone ahead of them to join with the forces of Gil-galad. Though her father marched with the host to bear arms in the War of Wrath, Alphaear begged him not to go, yet was ignored. By the end of the war in F.A. 587, Alphaear was fatherless before even truly being of age. A dagger belonging to her father was returned to her, and that of the rings he had exchanged with her mother, but nothing else was heard of him, and his body was lost. Together, she and her mother remained in Lindon until Eregion was founded.
  • Second Age
    • With the founding of Eregion in S.A. 750, it was the year 1227 before Alphaear and Bronaduieth left together to settle in the realm of Celebrimbor. Their hesitation in abandoning the home of Alphaear's father prevented them from leaving earlier with those who settled the region, and it took many years for them to finally weary of Lindon before they left. Bronaduieth had been an elleth talented in the craft of jewel-smithing, and so she settled easily into their new home.
      • Alphaear, however, struggled greatly with the change. Her grief had turned to bitterness, and instead of moving past her father’s death, she threw herself into learning war stratagem and the lore of battle; a student of tactics and combat. Out of place in a land that later became the height of elven craft, she refused to learn her mother’s trade and would frequently travel to Lindon and back to further her own studies. It was around this time that she met and made acquaintances with the ellon Arrvelas.

      • While in Eregion, Alphaear met an ellon named Eriston, and a budding romance began to grow between the two. Their playful banter quickly turned to more serious courtship, and before long, rings of engagement were exchanged between the pair. Yet their timing was unfortunate and doomed, for the year of their engagement was S.A. 1697, the same year of Eregion’s fall. Bronaduieth was lost, and Alphaear and Eriston fled to Imladris. From there, they melted down their rings and annulled their engagement, as Eriston decided to sail to Aman, and Alphaear refused to leave the lands where her family perished.

      • She continued to travel from Imladris to Lindon and back; she cut her hair short and threw herself back into the study of strategem and tactics, and when the time came to join the Last Alliance, she readily threw herself under the lead of Gil-galad. She became a renowned tactician, though she was oft assigned to assist members of Oropher’s host, and had many dealings with the woodland kin before the War was ended.

  • Third Age
    • After the conclusion of the Second Age, Alphaear continued with her wandering habits. Although she considered Imladris her home, she would oft still go out to Lindon, or to Lorien and Felegoth, for study and to speak with those whom she had formed tentative bonds of friendship with.
      • However, as Lorien drew more reclusive due to Durin’s Bane being stirred in Moria, and Felegoth quickly began to sink into the shadow of the forest now known as Mirkwood, Alphaear’s travels to the east quickly dwindled, and she did not dare to take those paths for many moons. She herself grew more reclusive, wiling away her time in the libraries of Imladris or the scholars’ archives in Duillond.

      • In recent days, she was invited by her old acquaintance (now friend) Arrvelas to go westwards with him. Fearing the ill tidings that were stirring in Imladris and beyond to the east, she agreed and has been traveling with him since.

Friends
They are few and far between due to her tendency to wander and her abrasive nature, but she considers Arrvelas her closest friend.
Relatives
Her father was felled in the War of Wrath and her mother at the Fall of Eregion, so she has no remaining family.
Rivals/Enemies
She views the memory of her father as both, but on a broader scale, she despises orcs and wargs.
Loves
Reading! She loves to read; she constantly has a book on her person. She has a passion for cartography and can be cajoled into doing anything if offered something spicy to eat.
Hates
She hates being spoken down to, be it for her shorter height or for her perceived slights. She despises the taste of wine and rarely indulges in it.
Motivation
Although easy to view as a passive relic remaining on Arda for no reason save the sake of remaining, she has found a new reason to stay, if only to keep Arrvelas from fumbling about blindly.
Quotes
"Do not let me be rid of you."
