Background
A child of the Wildermore, Aeshaeidr is no stranger to frigid winds and the coldness of scornful gazes. She was a young girl with wide-eyed dreams of wanting to be a shield-maiden in her prime; sword, and spear reflecting sunlight as she struck down her opponents.
Yet her reputation of being unwomanly and of getting into trouble prevented this. Her father already had many problems in dealing with his son, her brother, in Harwick, and so he wished for Aeshaeidr not to stray too far from his sight and too far into danger. Although her mother taught her in secret the ways of the spear, Aeshaeidr was only occasionally indulged in assisting with hunts, or to helping to defend the walls of Forlaw. Otherwise her days were marked with learning womanly crafts, like to cook and to sew.
When her brother went missing, and her father fell gravely ill in his bed, she was the one who volunteered to go out into the world and search for him. Despite finding him safely northwards in the Vales of Anduin, she promised his secrecy and lied about his whereabouts upon her return. This earned the ire of her father when it became clear that she had failed to find him. His ire worsened when her brother returned later, and it became more obvious that she had found him and lied.
Upon her brother's return, tensions between the family grew, until they culminated over the subject of her brother's arranged marriage to a maiden in Harwick. With her father’s horse and her mother’s armor, she stole away from the town and fled southwards to join up with The Oathsworn and their ilk as they made for Dunland. Selling herself as a battle-maiden who is intimate with the art of warfare, she struggles to settle amongst those who she sees as her new friends.
"Alas, the bright cup! Alas, the warrior in his corslet!
Alas, the glory of the prince! How that time has passed away,
has grown dark under the shadow of night, as if it had never been!
...
Everything is full of hardship in the kingdom of earth;
the decree of fate changes the world under the heavens.
Here possessions are transient, here friends are transient,
here man is transient, here woman is transient;
all this firm-set earth becomes empty.”
