Background
Undulen Autumnhaven, Minstrel of Mirkwood, was born near the end of the Second Age (3317). He was fortunate to have borne witness to the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, and this moment from his childhood has informed many of his future goals.
Growing up at a time when the Elves began to depart Middle-Earth, his desires through life have mostly involved chronicling the events of Arda and leaving the Free Peoples with a legacy worthy of songs. His father, Ungarion, founded The Sword and Scroll, a kinship from the First Age. Upon Ungarion's death at the Siege of Barad-Dur, the kinship fell into obscurity.
At the dawn of the Third Age, Undulen, seeing the shadow of the Necromancer fall over Mirkwood, takes it upon himself to depart his home in search of allies capable of battling the enemy. Feeling that this darkness would continue to spread across the lands, he thought it imperative that the Free Peoples came together to oppose it. To that end, Undulen sought out the Rangers of Evendim to revitalize The Sword and Scroll.
In the interest of his goals, he changed the fundamental structure of the kinship so that one of its two Elders was to be a member of another race. But when he came to Eriador, instead of a Man, he befriended a Dwarf by the name of Cirroc. Cirroc was to be the first in a succession of many Elders of the Sword, and their travels together only the beginning of a long list of adventures in Middle-Earth.
