While he is quick to laugh, he frequently jests both for his own amusement and the amusement of others, he has little patience for vulgarity or fools. |

Background
Yaraldo was born in Nargothrond in the year 460 of the First Age of the Sun. His Noldor parents, loyal to Finarfin their lord and his son Finrod, had crossed Helcaraxë in rebellion against the Valar after they failed to protect the Eldar from Melkor Bauglir who destroyed the Two Trees, slew Finwë the High King of the Noldor, and stole the treasury of Fornost, including the precious Silmarils of Fëanor.
Surviving the perilous journey, Finrod and his folk settled in Hísilómë or Hithlum as it became known in Sindarin. Yaraldo’s parents left Hithlum in the year 102 FA to live in the now completed Nargothrond, the subterranean fortress hidden beneath Taur-en-Faroth.
Yaraldo’s father was slain during the fall of Nargothrond in 495 FA defending their lord Orodreth, Findrod’s brother, but Yaraldo and his mother escaped the coming of Glaurung the Golden, Worm of Morgoth. In time they settled in Lindon with others who survived the sinking of Beleriand, ruled by Ereinion Gil-galad, who had become High King of the Noldor in 510 FA after the Fall of Gondolin in which King Turgon and many others were slain.
In Lindon Yaraldo spent hours, days, and years studying the ancient texts. The library of Forlond became as a second home to him. Yet he was no stranger to birds and beasts, flowers and trees, and other living things under the Sun. He developed a keen interest in roots, leaves, bark and herbs for their healing properties, applying what he learned in service to the sick and wounded in the House of Healing.
Healers became in great demand after the Dark Lord Sauron made war on Celebrimbor and the Mírdain of Eregion in 1693 of the Second Age. Although Gil-galad had rejected Sauron when he had come to Lindon in the fair guise of Annatar Lord of Gifts, the Noldor of Eregion did not. Elrond Half-elven, too, had rejected Annatar, and established the refuge of Imladris in 1697 SA. Being granted leave by the High King, Yaraldo answered the call for healers, becoming one of those served in the House of Healing under Lord Elrond’s direction, tending survivors of the fall of Ost-in-Edhil.
In 3430 an Alliance was established between Gil-Galad of the Elves and Elendil, High King of the Dúnedain, the Elf-friends of old who had escaped the downfall of Númenor. Together they sought to end Sauron’s bid to rule all of Middle-earth. Elrond Half-elven served as Gil-galad’s herald during this War of the Last Alliance of Men and Elves, and Yaraldo served among those who tended the combatants wounded in the war. Alas, although the Dark Lord was thrown down, the High Kings of both Elves and Men perished.
Since Sauron’s defeat that heralded the end of the Second Age and beginning of the Third, Yaraldo has served in the House of Healing in Imladris, which is under the protection of Lord Elrond Half-elven. Yaraldo shall one day sail into the West to be reunited with family and friends that have gone before him, but that day has not yet come.
