Outward Appearance

A tall and broad man, heavy set with muscle rounded by fat, Cuthanon is the picture of protective durability. His dark brown skin bears small lines, especially around his eyes, but whether it is stress or age, one cannot tell. His thick black hair is well kept and he holds himself in a very noble and confident manner.

A very noticeable scar runs down from his left brow to his right cheek, only a few years old by it's look but certainly an addition that has given him a rougher and more dangerous appearance.

But, in the main, as imposing as he might sound, Cuthanon's face is kind. He has warm eyes and a deep, soothing voice, his accent only a little strange but easily placed to a Gondorian heritage. A truly bearish man, but only in the softest and most comforting of ways. It is very easy to trust Cuthanon of Pelagir.

His voice is round and comes from deep within his chest, in fact he projects like an orator. His accent and voice sound particularly similar to this.

Background

Because of all this, since Gondor wants my life, I give it to her.
Death will be my wedding, children, and glory.
Mother, that's how it is.

Born to a minor nobleman and a highborn lady from Pinnath Gelin who married below her station, Cuthanon had a fair and good start in life. As a Naval city, his father held captaincy of a Galleon within Pelargir's fleet and was well respected for his reliable and steady manners and solid tactics at sea. Cuthanon inherited much of his unflappable personality, but not so much of his predictability.

He was introduced to the docks at a very young age, taking delight in watching the shipwrights wrought and rend great timbers and, eventually, helping himself. As much as he received a Knight's training in battle, chivalry and manners, he also was trained as a sailor. Running through the many secretive twists and turns of his ancient city was his favourite pastime as a boy, and he made many friends who joined him. Eventually his younger brother pestered long enough to be included, though Dinmorn's size meant he was always made to crawl into the tighter and smellier spaces. However, this still instilled a great love for his City in Cuthanon, as well as a deep held loyalty for it's people. Such gallantry and altruism as he held, he inherited from his Mother.

The army was a decision made for him, as the eldest son of a family needing to prove their nobility. But, as luck would have it, Cuthanon suited the Military very well, far better than his brother. Likeable, bold, and most importantly able to raise even the most downhearted of spirits, Cuthanon found promotion quickly. His fellows were eager and supportive and Soldiers were often glad to be under his command. As daunting and durable a warrior as all knew him to be, it was his emotional and tactical intellect that served him best.

With Pelargir so close to Gondor's border, it's armies and fleet saw battle very regularly and Cuthanon bore that brunt. Both as a soldier fighting skirmishes across the Anduin, to a Marine harrying the Corsair's down the coast and far to sea, he is comfortable in battle and dangerous situations. Since the death of his father some few years ago, Cuthanon now holds Captaincy of his ship, Rôthzagar, and is included amongst the Naval Councils held by Lord Sirgon.

Power is a weapon to help not ourselves, but the others, those that have given it to us. Otherwise it is in unworthy hands.
