Portrait of Feorhwén created by me using the Voila app and edited in Photoshop With her willowy frame, delicate beauty and demure disposition, Feorhwén looks less the warrior and more the fair damsel of songs. Her fair, heart shaped face is framed by long dark hair that may speak to a Dunlendish heritage on her mother's side though her family would never admit to such a thing. But make no mistake, the pair of blue eyes peeking out shyly from long eyelashes belie an inner strength and resolve. |

Background
Born the youngest of two children, Feorhwén is the daughter of Freothulaf, the thane of Wercliff, a settlement outside Brockbridge in the Stonedeans of Western Rohan. Her name is a combination of the Rohirric words feorh meaning "spirit" and wén meaning "hope". Growing up, Feorhwén was taught the expectations and the womanly arts of a noble lady by her maternal grandmother and her handmaidens. Despite their differences in personality, she is extremely close to her tomboyish cousin Erulach and her fiery elder brother. Her skills with needle and thread were often called upon to stitch them back up from whatever scrapes they got into.
The three of them were inseparable until one fateful day when on route to Brockbridge to attend a family function, Feorhwén, her brother and their retainers were ambushed by a group of Dunlendings. The noble siblings were taken hostage while the rest of the group were slaughtered save for one man who alone returned to tell the tale. That was the last time Feorhwén ever saw her brother. The two were soon separated, her brother sent to parts unknown while Feorhwén was sold to Sharkey's men and taken to Eriador. She eventually escaped and took up a job as a seamstress in the town of Bree.
