Boregil's parents were Bree-landers who owned a lumber mill in the Lone-Lands. They were fairly successful, albeit not exactly rich. Boregil spent a happy childhood romping around the plains with her siblings, and developed a knack for lumberjackery in her teens. She quickly became one of the brawniest maidens in the land.

All that changed when the Tarkríp clan arrived. The orcs laid waste to a swath of the Lone-Lands, burning and pillaging as far as Weathertop and Ost Guruth before they were driven back, and the Blackrose family weren't lucky enough to stay out of their attention. A party of orcs burned down the lumber mill and chased the family halfway to Bree.

The Blackroses settled in Buckland, but Boregil was changed by the experience. Her strength and bravery grew, her determination to take revenge on the Tarkríps caught alight, and her respect for her parents' wishes dwindled. She loved them and her siblings with all her heart, but that love was what ultimately pushed her to take up arms against the darkness. She eventually moved to Archet, having heard that the villagers needed help dealing with the local banditry and giant spiders, and her life has only spiralled deeper into craziness since then.

Boregil's wanderings have taken her as far as Rohan, where she found many more people who had lost their homes and families. While her heart lies in Bree-land and the Lone-Lands, Boregil is determined not to let the people of Rohan suffer the fate her family did.
