Outward Appearance

Ida is a young woman of about 5'4 with a youthful face and gentle curves. She dresses poorly, and it is obvious that she has little coin to her name. Her long, medium brown hair is usually tied back, out of her eyes, and she moves with an air of nonchalance. Her voice is sweet, and her manner girlish (if a bit clumsy). She is quickly moved to tears, although it often proves to be a ploy to garner sympathy. Idalyn scares easily, usually due to her own tendencies to stumble into trouble. Her large hazel eyes frequently betray her motives, especially during her attempts at lying. When accused of such, however, she is prone to indignation. She claims to be twenty-two, but looks a year or two younger. Her overall manner is an odd mix of airheaded and arrogant, and her intentions are fairly blatant in any given situation. To put it shortly, Ida is an open book that believes herself to be tightly bound closed.

Background

Ida was born in Archet, to a mother who died in childbirth, and a father who considered drinking to be a hard day's work. For most of her early childhood, she fell into the care of various neighbors, but by the time she turned eleven their sympathies ran dry. Despite her father's negligence, they were close to each other. Ida idolized him, having no other consistent adult figure to look up to as she grew, and attempted to model herself after his strengths of compulsive lying and... well, he didn't really have any others. Although he could not provide much for her, Idalyn was raised with a certain sense of entitlement, encouraged by his example. She takes pride in the refusal of charity, and fails to fully understand that she has no right to others' property. As her father always said, "Stealing and trickery are the hardest work there is," and so, when the Mad Badger was destroyed and her father taken with it, she was left with a single course of action: fleeing to Bree to carry on the Fenbrooke legacy.

Cocky, and overly confident in her abilities, she often chooses the most difficult targets in the room, and the resulting altercations leave many wondering if she has a secret death wish. Lately, she has taken her misadventures to heart, often opting to indulge in simple nosiness rather than to attempt robbery. While it's left her even hungrier than usual, it has allowed her to make (accidental) connections that spell out a lucky future for her. Despite her living situation, Ida would be better compared to a small, hungry dog than a cunning alley cat. She is by no means simple, but she views the world simply--she seeks to survive, but would rather blame her actions on boredom than admit that she's in need of anything. She is by every means a product of her upbringing, and while her entitlement could easily be corrected, many prefer tossing her back into the gutter rather than aiding her. But, then again, why help someone who doesn't think they need it?

Naive and sociable--albeit rather introverted--Idalyn often fails to recognize that other people pose a threat until it's too late. Her temper is stronger than her survival instincts, and she easily forgets present danger in favor of a snarky reply. Ida longs for companionship, but has never had an easy time making friends. She has a deep desire for love, whether romantic or platonic, and often distracts herself with romantic stories on particularly difficult nights. Loyal to those who help her (even though she can totally manage on her own), she repays kindness with kindness. However, this often leads to her being easily taken advantage of by others, as she judges those around her at face value.

She has an INFP personality type.
