Cynewyn and Leofdag had prayed for an offspring for over a two and half decades. So it is not surprising that when they in their late forties finally managed to bring one into this world, they named her Wynwyn 'Joy joy', as their Joy was endless at the day of her birth!

How tragic for the child however! At the age of seventeen both of her parents had perished for the natural process of aging and the illnesses related to it. The gift of men.

Wynwyn, was left alone at the family's farm with no means to maintain it. Growing hostilities made her sought another life, a more secure one and hopefully less lonely in some of the larger settlements with some of her remaining relatives.
