Jack Tarwood is born in Bree as a fourth son of Butcher Hop  and Milly Cartwright, former Tarwood from Combe.

Most of his young days he has spent with his fellows in Beggars alley, wayward from his respected family. Bit by bit, brawl by brawl, he ended in jail, sick of rules and laws, he went out of the walls and joined Blackwolds.

He became infamous among outlaws by its sudden ferocity and cruelty to his enemies yet he always seemed utterly polite and well mannered..

He is largely unknown by the watch, as he had only few dealings with them and that was before Jack joined Blackwolds. Jack equally dislikes south and north of the great road brigands, yet he worked for both. 

Northorn offered him middle way and he accepted it, so now Jack is his right hand in their new endeavors.
