Appearance:

Dinenor is a muscular, tall-grown man, about 6"4, with shoulder-length black hair and grey eyes, staring vigilant through the world. His face looks proud, yet it's lined through weather, wind and battles.

He moves nearly silent through forest and undergrowth, and if your ears wouldn't be an elf ones, you possibly wouldn't hear him until he stands right behind your back. This suppleness is being seen in all of his movements, be it in the wilds or in a tavern, the ranger is always considerated of careful, calm motions.

His voice is a throaty-sounding baritone one, creating an impression of toughness, but also security.

Apparel:

He wears mostly brown leather and green wool, combined with a tatty cloak and muddy brown leather boots. His fingerless gloves are made out of brown linen, enhanced with vambraces made of leather. His upper face is nearly covered by the hood of the cloak, the lower side is hidden behind a wool-made mask. The only visible ornament he wears is a six-pointed cloak-clasp in the shape of a star, not really fitting the poor apparel of the fellow.

Characteristics:

Many years of wandering and fighting alone in the wilds have made a mark on the fellow. He now talks less than ever before (and he has always been silent!), and if he does, he seems to be gruff and hash. Nonetheless, he always remains steadfastly at his (nowadays few, even among his own kind) friend's sides and he still bears the ideals and virtues of the Dúnedain with himself. Loyalty, honour and honesty are traits he appreciates and respects the most, even among his enemies.

Nevertheless, deep inside he is still the same young ranger he was, when he left the encampment in the trollshaws - adventurous, venturesome and resolute. Provided with strong faith in the recapture of the north and the re-establishment of the old kingdom, he hates everything and everyone trying to harm the old territory of Arnor and its people.

Equipment:

Greatsword of Arangil

A bastard sword made by the Dúnedain long ago, carved with ancient runes at the grip. He obtained it from his father, who went into to Fornost Erain as a young ranger and found it at the old forge. He never named the sword, but after his father's dead, Dinenor entitled it to his name. The ranger usually wears the sword on his back, fixed with a belt around his torso.

Wooden Longbow

An ordinary longbow as it is used by the Dúnedain. He wears it on his back, next to the sword together with a quiver full of arrows.

Westernesse Dagger

An ancient Dagger, crafted long ago by the foes of the Witch-Realm of Angmar. Dinenor came across it while investigating a tomb in the Barrow-Downs near Bree.

Bundle

Next to the quiver, there is a bundle, comprising a torch, a bedroll, an axe to chop firewood and some food.

Background

Dinenor Dúnadan, Ranger of the North, Son of Arangil and IrhíeI, called 'The lonesome wanderer' by many people throughout Eriador.  He was born in an encampment in the northern Trollshaws and raised in the wilderness. Ever since he was a child, his father taught him everything about the dangers of the life he was born into; about the old kingdom and its decay; and about the values and virtues carried on by the Dúnedain.

Shortly after Dinenor had sworn his oath to the Chieftain of the Dúnedain, his father left him and his mother together with some other rangers, for he sensed that something was going on in the old Witch-Realm of Angmar, far in the north. Before leaving, he left his Greatsword in Dinenor's hands. Arangil never came back.

Dinenor named the sword after his father, for he never found anything out about the blade's true story. Carrying the sword, he left into the wilds, willing to find out about his fathers fate and to defend Arnor and it's people against all the evil trying to harm them.
