Had Ewley Bracken's fortunes in life been kinder he would not have turned out the way he has.  He remembers very little before his beginnings as a street rat working for Hog, a vile, cruel criminal who has developed a knack for controlling those orphaned or abandoned to Beggars Alley in Bree, he was once a decent enough lad.

Elder brother to his sister Dani whom he cares about in his own little way and once looked after as much as he could, until the roles were reversed.  Now dependent on her to steal for him to fund his addictions and pay off his gambling debts, often driving him to treat Dani rather brutally at times.  His hold on his sister was temporarily threatened by an unlikely relationship she formed with Basaran, the once Captain of a local sellsword company The Bloody Dawn.  Ewley can breathe a little easier now that Basaran has left her just as Ewley always taunted her he would.

He made it his business to remain on good terms with Hog as it gave him the protection he needs against those he owes money to. Now that Hog has been driven out of Bree after The Network took over most of the criminal operations there, Ewley has by and large been driven underground.

Ewley still surfaces occasionally and often finds himself on the wrong end of a brawl on account of his outspoken ways, bad manners and drunken rants.
