Background
Early Life:
Thiniryl grew up in a sheltered life in the loving arms of a wealthy merchant family in Gondor. His family wasn't nobility, or having a history of serving the Gondorian Army, but instead had made a good living for themselves selling books, blades, baubles, making investments, and aught else. Thiniryl enjoyed the luxury of a proper education and access to his family's library, where he would spent most his days.
At age 10, at the behest of a family friend and soldier of Ostgiliath, Thiniryl was began taking courses in the art of combat. While he was not nearly as effective in hand to hand as his peers, or the best of archers, Thiniryl proved to be a capable strategist even in this young age. He continued to train for six years before he pleaded with his father to teach him the merchant's craft. After some time and deliberation, his father finally relented, realizing that Thiniryl had no interest in becoming a solider, and that the life of a soldier simply wasn't meant for Thiniryl.
Thiniryl proved to be just as capable a merchant as he was a strategist. The first time his father took Thiniryl with him on a caravan to negotiate prices on imports from a Rohirrim settlement, Thiniryl surprised and impressed both his father and the Rohirrim with his charisma and bartering aptitude, earning his father much praise and himself new friends amongst the Rohirrim.
A Merchant's Life:
Thiniryl would complete his training and become a merchant under his father after four more years. He proved to have his father's aptitude for the job with each consecutive venture, eventually earning himself a place at his father's side.
He would occasionally go and visit his friends in the rohirrim settlement, where he would hear stories of their victories against the dunlendings, and they'd share a pint and eat a roast boar. It was there he began to realize just how big the world outside his home was. Indeed, he had read stories of the North Kingdom of Arnor, and tales of strange pointy-eared woodland tall folk,or the wars between various groups. But only then did he begin to believe that the world might actually be larger than he thought it was.
During one of the next few meetings with his Rohirrim friends, he would be offered their daughter's hand in marriage. Knowing refusal could prove problematic, and accepting would only further the growth between the two, he readily accepted the offer. He brought the news home to his father and mother, who were greatly pleased with their son's news.
A great banquet
