Background

General Details

Full Name: Travian “Hathan” ‘Bercirn’ Woods

Race: Race of Man; Atani; Edain; ‘Children of Illuvator’

Ethnicity: Breeish; Breelander

Location of Birth: North of Bree-Town, in a now-gone farmstead

Father: Baeric Woods

Mother: Aesyltine Woods; formerly, Aesyltine Riversford

Current Residence: No official residence of his own; lingers in the Bree-Lands

Current Occupation: ‘Bandit’; Travian steals, giving that which he gains to the poorer of individuals in the Breelands

Social Class at birth: Low-Average, Low wealth

Social Class now: Upper-High, No ‘solid’ wealth

Acquired Skills

Formal Education: No formal education at all.

Languages Known: Westron (‘Common Tongue’, English).

Reading: Yes. Travian is quite fluent in his skill at reading.

Writing: Yes. Travian is quite fluent in his skill at writing, and his hand would look like one of someone well-learned – though he is not as such.

Education: Born into a poor farming family, Travian received no actual education, when it came to reading, or writing. He did not receive any education in martial arts either. Such skills were acquired later in his life, when, due to a series of curious events, he was taken to a camp in the Far-Northern reaches of the Breelands.

Combat: A master-archer, Travian has developed the ability to shoot arrows, even though his right eye was injured long ago, causing him to wear an eye-patch. His skills were mainly self-taught when it came to archery and marksmanship, and he took inspiration from his mentor, of whom he has managed to mirror in physical appearance as well as combat skill. He is able to knock arrows, and shoot them, with great speed; able to shoot long-shots, too. As for his skill with melee weapons: Travian can wield a longsword (vague term, referring to the English-Longsword, Bastard Sword, and Hand-and-a-Half-Sword) with good skill – however, one must note that this is simply his speciality, for anyone can use any weapon – so long as they are strong enough to wield said-weapon.

Riding: A ‘good enough’ rider; Travian is not too skilled, nor too terrible.

Occupational skill: For Travian’s occupation, two things are necessary: compassion and fearlessness. Travian possesses both of these traits; having absolutely no fear when it comes to worldly punishments, including death. He also has a great deal of compassion, and love, for those whom are poor, and unable to live well under the current state of their lands. Thus, he is very good at what he does.
When it comes to the actual robberies, Travian is skilled enough, to have avoided being captured, or killed, for several years.

Workmanship: Fletching and the carving of wood are two of Travian’s workmanship-skills. Such is usually common amongst archers, however.

Cooking: Having spent the entirety of his recent life with no official house to his name, Travian has learnt the skills required for cooking rustic foods; while not a master, he is able to feed himself well.

Social Skills: Kind, yet stern. Calm, yet angry. Loving, yet hateful. Travian is quite the social individual; able to speak to strangers with ease – in particular, he finds it easy to speak to the poor. He can be awkward, on purpose, at times – especially when surrounded by those of wealth. Charismatic, he is a good speaker, and conversation-starter, when he wishes to be.

Physical Appearance

Major Physical Distinctions:

  • ‘Two men; One person’ – Abnormally identical to his former-mentor, who is now dead, Travian has very similar facial features, the same colour and style of hair, and beard, and an eye-patch on his right eye. Such caused him to be mistaken for his mentor, and vice-versa, on several occasions: which was oft used to their advantage.

  • ‘The One-Eyed Archer’ – Having been injured, Travian has an eye-patch covering his right eye. It is of a rich-black colour, and seems to be made of hard leather.

  • ‘The Great-Bow of Bercirn’ – Carrying his mentor’s bow, along with another, shorter bow, Travian may be mistaken for his dead-mentor; possibly causing a great deal of confusion. The bow is something of great beauty, made from, what seems to be, yew, with ends of bone, and other materials. It is a longbow that would be nearly two feet taller than Travian. Such may be impossible for repetitive use, however – an archer must make do.

Scarring: A large, yet slick, scar runs down his right eye; it would look so fine, that one may think it was purposely-placed by an artist. The odd scar on his chest, back, and other places on his body.

Signs of Age: No signs of great age; Travian is in his youth. His eye-patch, and other scars on his body, may cause one to think he is older than he is, however.

Injuries, as of now: None. (I will only record current, untreated, unhealed injuries here)

Physical Appearance: Travian stands at the height of six foot, and has short, wavy hair of the richest red-brown. He has a rough beard that is short, yet not shaven. He would have a handsome face, and his cheekbones would not be too retracted, or gaunt. He would have a scar running down his right eye, where there is a black eye-patch, and he seems to have aged-well. His left eye would be a rich jade-green, and, should his eye-patch be removed, his right eye would be the same – if irritated, and blood-red, where his left was white.

Outward Appearance: Very tall. Travian often wears clothes good for survival; leathers, and thick coats. His clothes would not overburden him, however. Some of the time, he will wear rich-clothing, so as to appear a person of the upper-class (which, by right, he is – although he does not care for boasting wealth, of which he has none), or the like. Other times, he may wear farming garbs, or something similar.

Height: Six foot – That’s 1.8 meters or so.

Body Form: Slender and agile, yet muscular enough to appear quite ‘average’. Not the most dexterous person, yet not the strongest, most hefty, either.

Eye Colour: A rich jade-green.

Hair Colour: The richest of red-browns.

Family

Father: Baeric Woods

Mother: Aesyltine Woods; formerly, Aesyltine Riversford

Siblings:

  • [Y] Brother: Rokir
  • [O] Sister: Nia

Marital Status: Unmarried.

Children: None.

Friends and Foes

Travian’s definition of a ‘friend’: Travian believes a ‘friend’ can be anyone; it could even be someone he does not know yet. So long as a person is not cruel, corrupt, or greedy, they are, to him, his friend. Oft, he fights against people – yet still refers to them as friends.

Travian’s definition of a ‘rival’: Anyone who tries to have him caught by any guard-force, of the like. Those whom are greedy, and hateful of the poor.

Travian’s definition of an ‘enemy’: Anyone who has caused any form of harm against him, those he knows, or those he seeks to protect.

Travian’s definition of an ‘ally’: One he can trust entirely, and one he believes to have similar goals and aims in life – who is willing to work with him to achieve said-goals and aims.

Friends: None he would openly name.

Allies: Once, his mentor, though now; no one.

Rivals: The Mayor of Bree, Any guards or groups that would most likely do him harm.

Enemies: No one he would call an enemy, yet.

Views on others

The Race of Men: Travian is of the Race of Men, and he is not hateful of any specific ethnicity; nor is he xenophobic.

The Race of Dwarves: Other than those travelling through the Bree-lands, westward to their distant cousins’ homes in the Blue Mountains, Travian has met very few Dwarves. He sees their kind as yet-another people in the world, and carries no hate, nor love, for them. He is completely neutral.

The Race of Hobbits: Travian has only met a scant-few Hobbits – of whom live in Staddle, or visit Bree-Town – and therefore has no solid opinion on them. He does, however, believe the Hobbits to be kind, loving peoples; he hopes to meet more.

The Race of Elves: In his life, Travian has met only a single Elf. Such has caused him to be in awe of their kind; so mysterious, and distant, they are to him, that he has grown fond of them, even on the little knowledge that he possesses – half of which is not quite true.

Specifics;

  • Rokir, his younger brother: Travian is loving of his brother, and had, on many occasions, taken the blame for his brother’s acts. It was for his brother’s actions, that Travian would find himself in a Northern camp. Now, he meets his brother on regular occasion, to discuss the state of affairs, and the like.

  • Nia, his older sister: Just as loving of his sister, Travian also meets with her as often as possible.

  • Baeric, his father: Being cared for by his siblings, Travian meets his father just as often as he meets them. He is deeply respectful of his father, and has made certain that his life be good, and unadulterated by any problems

The Key ingredients to Character Stew

General Personality: Quite the mixed personality, Travian is kind and caring, but, at the same time, hateful and vengeful. He is an incredibly sociable person, able to talk to others with fluency and interesting tone – something that has caused him problems in the past. He is charismatic, when he chooses to be, and has a deep love for the poor – being compassionate, and helpful in their affairs. He hates the current political systems which allow the rich to remain rich, and the poor to remain poor, and in response he has taken to a life of banditry. He is not; however, the stereotypical view of a bandit.
Fearless of any punishment, Travian will oft speak his mind, whether he is speaking to a drunk, or to a proud lord. He is also fairly open about what he does.

Distinctions in behaviour:

  • Incredibly social
  • Compassion for the poor, and hate for the (greedy) rich
  • Believes the current economical and political systems are terrible
  • Is fearless of worldly punishments, including death

General Philosophical Beliefs: A man of the people, should the people be poor, or charitable towards the poor – Travian carries a deep hatred for those of wealth, whom do not help those without wealth. He combats the idea that this is jealousy, by once having a great level of wealth himself, and the idea that this is hypocritical, by having given that wealth away.

Character Traits;

  • Extroverted – Travian is, by definition, highly extroverted. He loves conversation and idle-talk with other individuals, usually in a tavern, or an inn, and prefers to be around others, when he can, than alone. However, he does possess some traits of an introverted person – preferring to be alone when not in a civilised location, like a town or village.

  • Good archer – Travian has developed his archery skill to the point, where he can shoot a bow right-handed, even though he has injured his right-eye, and uses an eye-patch to cover it.

The names, their meanings, and transliterations

Travian:

  • Pronounced ‘Tray-Vee-un’ [Tr-A-V-uh-n]
  • The name is rather randomly made, using middle-ages naming styles.

Baeric:

  • Pronounced ‘Bay-Rick’ [Bh-A-Rih-ck] OR ‘Ber-Rick’ [B-eh-rih-ck]
  • The name is an amalgamation of existing names, like: ‘Eric’, ‘Baer’, ‘Beric’, ‘Rick’, ‘Æric’, etc.

Aesyltine:

  • Pronounced ‘Ay-Sil-Tie-n’ [A-sil-Tie-n] OR ‘Es-sil-tine’ [Eh-si-l-tie-n’ OR ‘Ah-sil-tin’ [Ah-Sil-Tin]
  • The name is a repeat of older names I have used on this character, when it was still in development. The name is rather randomly made, using ‘Æ’ from Old-English, while not joining the ‘A’ and the ‘e’ (though, I realise that it isn’t actually an ‘A’ and an ‘e’). Think, Æthelwulf.

Rokir:

  • Pronounced ‘Row-K-ir’ [r-O-kih-r]
  • The name is random, using a mix of names in existence, e.g. ‘Lokir’, ‘Rorick’, ‘Roderick’, etc.
