Karinna is the third child of Leila Oakleaf, cook at the mess hall, and Sam Rosethorn, accomplished rat-catcher. She also has an older brother and an older sister. Various relatives are scattered in Bree and other villages.

Karinna is quite many years younger than her older siblings and thus she has lived a bit different life. As her sister took the same career path as their mother and her brother became a baker, she decided to be the one who bring food to home and learned to use a bow. One could say she is quite skilled in archery, but then again she is quite young still. 

Karinna often has a dull, bored look on her face, as if she would hate everything in the world. She doesn't speak much, she doesn't smile or laugh. Whether this is her nature or caused by some misfortune, it is unknown. Should anyone known her as a child, would one remember her as a smiling and carefree child.

For the past few years she spent time away from Bree and her family. She has returned just recently, to live again with her mother and sister.

She is often referred as Katy or Karin, depending on the company.
