Outward Appearance

Gerthwin appears sturdy and solid, even for a Harfoot. His hair is cut short and ragged and shows signs of turning grey. His tanned and somewhat weatherbeaten face would indicate a life spent outdoors. He looks capable and well used to hard physical work, walking with a slow yet purposeful gait.

Background

Depending on whom you ask the name Gerthwin Burrows crops up quite often. In each of the Four Farthings you will find at least someone who claims to know him, his whereabouts or his current occupation. However if you were to enquire a little more deeply, it is curious how much of this information appears to be misleading, untrue or pure speculation.

That said Gerthwin has called many places home. Originally thought to be from The Marish where it is said he married young into a well to do family of landowners, eventually looking after the large farm and estate 'Brightwater'. After some personal misfortune he disappeared and was to only reappear some years later travelling the roads and byways of the Shires Four Farthings in a brightly painted wagon.

At various times since then he can be placed in Overhill, Scary, Woodhall, Needlehole and more recently Waymeet. Known to be a skilled stonemason he often turns his hand to a variety of odd jobs and occupations with the same steady and unflinching resolve.

Gerthwin is sometimes accompanied by a large grey hound. Only a hobbit of The Marish would know that this is in fact a rare breed of wire-haired shag-tailed hound specific to that region.

((* He keeps his friends and close associates closely guarded - as such no assumption can be made as to the list of friends mentioned above))
