Outward Appearance

Distinct Gondorian features sit on a somewhat weather-beaten face.  He is dressed smartly in fine clothes suited to his homeland, though close inspection would reveal them to be repeatedly hemmed and re-stitched due to general wear and abuse.  His shaggy hair is kept out of his face by a thick metal circlet that looks to have seen better days.

Ethein stands with a confident posture and mannerisms, with a ready smile, always eager to engage in conversation.  However, his eyes tend to be darting and vigilant, more wary and attentive than actually mistrusting.  When he speaks, his accent is only slight, having been blunted over the time spent away from his home.

Background

As a young man of Gondor, Ethein was in service as a courier and warden to the Houses of Healing, and the lore-masters and scholars there.  Well-read and somewhat learned in history, Ethein was raised with a great deal of faith in the strength of Gondor and the lore of men.  As the shadows of Morder began to encroach over Minas Tirith, however, Ethein found his faith in his people, and his security in their fate, sorely shaken.

Falling into a depression, Ethein was released from his service to the Houses, and retreated into the studies of the bygone glories of men.  When the stories alone failed to bring him relief, Ethein resolved to travel north and west, to the lands of Eriador, where physical testaments to the lost kingdoms of men could be found.  It was here, he hoped, that his idealism could be rekindled among reminders of the Free People's former glory.

In his time since coming to the north, Ethein has thrown himself fully behind the cause of the Free Peoples.  Whether or not he will return to the White City is unknown, even to him.  However, while there are still those in the former lands of Arnor who are in need, Ethein has no plans to ignore them.
