Tyelepoma's betrothal-feast speech

Greetings everyone. Thank you very much for coming to our betrothal-feast. It truly means a lot to Athlïdhraél and I that you all found the time to join us at this cheerful occasion. As you already know, we were recently betrothed, and we want to celebrate this exhilarating and special time in our lives with all of you, our closest family and friends.

Athlïdhraél and I did not immediately fall in love. We first met at the rescue of Galdoriel at the south of the Misty Mountains. From that moment on I could not keep my eyes and thoughts away from her. However, she did not yet know. After some meetings I carefully let slip that she had stolen my heart underneath the queer sky of Forochel. Athlïdhraél hesitated, postulating that she had not yet found the time to study the subject ”love”. Beneath that moonlight sky I swore that I would find the answer to her questions as her companion. This was the beginning of what has proven to be a lasting and loving acquaintance.

After a befitting time I asked her for her hand – and as we are gathered here to celebrate, she did not refuse. As is the ancient tradition of our people we sealed our betrothal with the silver rings that now rest upon our hands. As we both appreciate jests, riddles and theatre we decided to hide this from our friends and family by acting as if something had suddenly estranged us. This was mainly, however, in concern of the two newly acquired statuses – that of Caun and initiate – which should both be strengthened before we were seen as an ‘item’ rather than individuals. For many months we spoke our love to each other out of the sight of curious eyes. At the highest point of our jest, was revealed in the Hall of Fire in the house of Lord Elrond.

Athlïdhraél, Thank you very much. You’ve shown me so many things about myself that I would never have realized if it weren’t for you. Thank you for always pushing me, showing me that I can do whatever I set my mind to. Thank you for living life with me. Our little “adventures” of studying, questing, exploring remind me how much fun we have together. Thank you for sitting on the bed when I was wounded. Thank you for helping me when I have to attend to duties of Bar-en-Vanimar. Thank you for laying with me under the stars and listen to what burdens my heart. Most of all, thank you for filling my life with joy and happiness.

So thank you, everyone, for coming to celebrate this event. Athlïdhraél and I cannot wait until we see all of you at our wedding, when we will be bound to each other till the end of time. It really means a lot to us that we have your support in this. It shows that you look at us and see a couple who is truly in love, and should be together for the rest of their live
