Rocks and Promises

*Ah, back in Imladris my friend* he whispered to his horse while rubbing its forehead with his knuckles in a caressing way *But not for long*
His thoughts went back to that evening on the banks of the Long River, together with her, his treasure, enjoying each others company, the sparkling night, and her fishing.A grin appeared on his face - yes, her fishing.
He could watch her for hours, while she was at that, chatting to him, but at the same time focussing on her angling line, every few moments biting her lip, and the excitement when that line tautened.
He slowly removed the horse blanket from his companion's back, stopping half way while gazing at the rocks behind the stables, his mouth forming a half smile.
*Rocks Mithroch, rocks can be extremely important in life* he mumbled quietly, more to himself than to the horse.
But when he turned to drape the now folded blanket over the stable's wall, the animal was staring right at him, its ears pointing forward and lips pulled up, showing its teeth, as if wanting to comment on his riders last words.
*YES !!!, i know, i gave her my word, and, YES !!!, promises are there to keep*
The horse whinnied softly, scraping its hoof over the, with straw covered, floor of the stable.
*I will take her with me to Gwingris.... we will ride to the Ford of Bruinen, and from there follow the river Southwards, that will be a safe route, not more then a days travel, and there will be no need to be escorted by Galendil's hunters. We will probably reach Glad Ereg before the main host of Vanimar arrives*
The grey steed whinnied louder, puffing warm breath through his nostrils, bending his nose forward, pushing his big lips against his masters ear.
*Hey... stop that you big mouse. Yes...we will be leaving soon, maybe even tonight, now take your rest*
