Chronicle Summary

An account of the Blue Mountain Regiment's gambit to petition Lord Náin after an unfortunate oath.

Chronicle Content

At the invitation of Lord Durak Ironjaw and the Iron Hils Regiment, the Neighbourhood Watch of the Blue Mountains Regiment journeyed to the Lonely Mountain for demonstratory patrols.

However, in order to be allowed to bear arms within the Dwelling-halls of Erebor, an ancient law called for a ritual of oath-taking. The ceremony was presided over by Hofar Ironhelm, herald of Lord Durak and father of Watch-commander Thonin.

Events took an ill turn when it transpired that the vow sworn by the brave constables upon the tombs of Watchers of yore bound them to the Lonely Mountain for all time—a distressing detail indeed for Dwarves based in faraway Eriador.

Keenly aware of his father's propensity for making everything into a test of character, Thonin met with his companions and together they formulated a plan…

The compact having been established under the authority of Durak Ironjaw, it could be dissolved by his liege Náin the Slakeless, son of Dáin and Lord of the Iron Hills.

With Hofar nowhere to be found and an audience with King Thorin Stonehelm kept as a last resort, the Watch set for a journey to Náin's seat of power, the Ironfort.
