Evonne's Elflands diary: Days 15-17

Days 15-17

Worrying for my friends, I returned to Gwingris, where I was able to gain a little news. Their attempt to infiltrate the enemy camp, posing as brigands, has met with some success: their disguises seem to have been accepted, so far, they have gained some access to the leaders, and are being given tasks to perform that show some level of trust.

The way they go about this does not completely allay my fears: the tasks they are given are (unsurprisingly) pretty evil - so Blodflæd, Morfryn and the others are doing their best to avoid actually carrying them out, without raising suspicion. It seems very risky… although I don’t see what else could do in this situation. The Elf scouts picked up one group of refugees they encountered on one of these missions, which Remaric was actually escorting back towards Gwingris. He also warned the Elves of a saboteur posing as a Ranger in one of the southern camps, so they have despatched their fastest rider to warn them.

Either way, I hate not being able to help - I should have pushed harder to go with them. I have grown quite fond of one of the younger Elf scouts, Eithilien. Maybe she will let me come out with her on the next patrol.
