On the Beach
Parnard placed the wine skins and basket on the beach, away from the rising tide, as the others sat nearby.
"Which of you is the eldest?" he asked, looking back and forth between Danel and Estarfin.
Estarfin looked unsure. "Eldest?" said he.
"You are, Estarfin," Danel commented, looking over at Parnard and wondering why he asked.
"Yes, the elder I mean. You are like my old Master, Athradir," the Wood Elf chuckled.
"You are the elder by a few years, no more. Just a blink of an eye," Danel added, moving as if to help Parnard unpack.
"Is that so? Parnard grinned.
Estarfin smiled. "That would explain my greater wisdom, perhaps," he said more to Danel.
She made a 'face' at him in return, a scowl almost, but then she laughed.
"The eldest and wisest gets the wineskin," Parnard announced, handing the object to Estarfin.
In turn, Estarfin took the wine skin happily and drank a long draught before passing it back to Parnard.
"It explains something, but I would not have said wisdom," Danel quipped with a grin.
Parnard nodded approvingly at the length of the draught. "I am glad I took up several of these." He handed the wineskin to Danel.
"Don't tell me, I am the second wisest?"
"Second eldest." Parnard explained.
