Delioron was almost finished packing his saddlebags in a spacious guest chamber in the Last Homely House where he had been living in since his arrival to Rivendell. He was feeling vaguely restless because there had been no answers to the questions concerning the mysterious Sara Oakheart and the fate of Maglor. Still, he had made a promise to Laureanis to let the matter be, and he intended to keep his promise. There were rarely answers to all the questions in his trade, and if some answers were sometimes found, they only provoked more questions.
It was raining outside, but this was the day he had decided to leave Rivendell behind and embark on his long journey home. He had wasted enough time already. It was beginning to look like Laureanis was really going to do nothing about Delossad, and he had to respect that. Maglor had been her husband, after all – he had barely known the reclusive old elf, and that had been fifteen years ago. It was none of his business what Laureanis would or would not do about Delossad. It was time for him to go back to Gondor.
It was mid-morning. Delioron closed the bags and tossed them on the rumpled bed. He slipped on his soiled, brown cloak and cast a final glance upon the room to store the memory of it into the library of his mind.
There was a knock on the door. He opened it and saw a beautiful elf-maiden standing on the doorstep. She was holding a small letter or a note in her hand.
”Mellon Delioron”, she said. ”I was asked to give you this message this morning.”
She handed Delioron the scrolled letter. Delioron took it but did not open it.
”When did you receive this letter?”
”Late last night. Laureanis…”
Delioron understood then. He closed the door and turned. He removed the wax seal from the scroll with his dagger. He unscrolled the letter and read it.
Farewell, my friend. I am sorry I could not give you all the answers you so long for. I have gone to look for Maglor in the Halls of Mandos. Thank you for everything.
Laureanis
A few moments later Delioron was in the central courtyard of the Last Homely House. He stopped the first elf he saw.
”Tell me”, he said in his sharp, flat voice. ”How can I get to Delossad?”
