The Battle of the Greenfields

The Battle of the Greenfields

A song by Zinni and Hilldi

((Tune - Boulavogue))

In the Greenfields as the sun was setting

O'er the bright meadows of the Shire

Golfimbul's hand set the Braziers blazing

And brought the monsters from far with fire

Then bullroarer took from Brocken borings

Spurred up the folk with a rallying cry

"Arm! Arm!" he cried,

"For I’ve come to lead you, for the Shire’s freedom we’ll fight or die!"

He lead us on against the coming army

And the cowardly Goblins we put to flight

Twas at the battle, folk of the Shire

Showed Golfimbul's regiment how we could fight

Look out for bounders, Chief Golfimbul

Search every town where lives a Hobbit

For Bandobras Bullroarer took lead them

To sweep over the army like a mighty wave

We took many injured, but we were strong

And bandobras fought off our evil foe

Twas at the fields our pikes were reeking

With the crimson blood of the beaten Gobos

At the Battle of the Greenfields

Full many a goblin lay in his gore

Ah! Bullroarer took had aid come over The Victory flag was soon to be hung

Our hero swung his club with a great "thwack"

And Golfimbul's head was hit down a rabbit hole and his army ran away as a pack

We grant you glory, brave Bullroarer Took

And open the keg to all your men

The cause that called you may call tomorrow in another fight for the Green again
