Torech Besruth, Falathlorn
10th of April in the Shire-reckoning
Book, I can’t believe it!! It’s true, what I heard in Bree, that “if you don’t like the weather, wait an hour and it will change”. And what a change I see!
We were all bound for Rivendell, if you remember, when the trip got cancelled; well, at least postponed, as Naneth and Ada say. We had a long talk, just the four of us, over breakfast in the Grand Hall, and it was a serious and heart-wrenching talk. Well, it looked to me anyway like Naneth was torn apart, and Ada was helping to hold it together. But it really did raise a few questions without answers.
How long do Ardanion and I have in this world, as the children of Elves and Men?
But that question has to wait for an answer, because Naneth told me something amazing. The Household is setting out on another Expedition – and both Ardanion and I will be helping! Ada and Dumdum are leaving in the morning, riding out south of the Shire and headed into Cardolan. And Naneth has also told me to comb the main library for any record she might have about the old Dúnedain realm of Arnor and the princes of Cardolan.
Honestly, Book, I’m not sure what Naneth and the Household might be looking for. From what I learned while talking to folk in Bree, Cardolan is largely deserted, maybe one or two settlements, and that’s all. But what I’m looking at is, there’s an adventure about to start, and I’m going to be a part of it! Naneth is already packing, and I already have Adanna’s saddlebags stuffed with travel gear.
I’m so excited!
