Entry 001 - April 10th

--Arpil 10th

While my journey began some time ago, I only bought this journal today, hence this is my first entry.

As such, it will be begin with a summary of some things that happened before this day.

I have made temporary home in Bree, as I have found much to do in this land, as well as the other lands nearby, such as the Shire, Ered Luin, Cardolan and Swanfleet. I found my visit to the Stoor-Vales particularly delightful.

While all my early work was as a mercenary, I have recently began performing as a lute player. I have also discovered a love for cooking, though have yet to make a living of it.

I visited a dwarven caravan market and bought some good armor of a smith named Dilfinn. While I was too awkward to socialize at this event, I later made friends with a talkative dwarf named Frimsi and yet later got acquainted with another, named Kolbrandr, who makes prosthetic limbs.

I have also been to a elven concert, in the Shire, which I found very moving

Now, moving on to what actually happened today

I visited the Prancing Pony, in Bree-Town, in hopes that I might perform there, but a hobbit beat me to it. I stayed, to listen and speak with him, and we were also joined by another bard. A troubled bard, it turned out, as she had found it difficult to perform, since her shoulder was shot. She ran of crying, but the hobbit and I were able to find her and provide some encouraging words. We finally exchanged introductions and I learned that the woman's name was Braxwald and the hobbit's was Hamelmond. We jammed together and took turns playing tunes. Eventually, Braxwald took her leave, though not before thanking us for the encouragement and inspiration we had provided her.

Not long after Braxwald left, Hamelmond and I were harassed by an aggressive beorning woman and I found the hobbit was rather good at hiding, as I momentarily lost sight of him. I eventually found him again, once the coast was clear, and we decided to leave the inn, to go fishing in a nearby lake. The first lake we went to turned out to be too shallow, but I found another one, north-west of Bree-town. There we fished and spoke about life.

During our conversations, Hamelmond mentioned he had accidentally found a house full of cats, in Bree-town, and offered to show me. Before we could leave, however, we were attacked by a bear. We were able to defeat it though, as it was thankfully not the beorning, but simply one of the regular bears of the Bree-lands.

Returned to Bree-town, it took us some time to find this house of cats, as Hamelmond had trouble remembering the route, but we arrived there eventually. It was a curious, yet cozy place and we spent the rest of the evening there, petting cats, playing music and theorizing about who, if anyone besides the cats, might live there.

As the hour grew late, I finally decided it was time to head back to my Bree-home and bid my new hobbit friend goodnight and goodbyes. I hope to see him and my other new friends again some day.
