The Embrace

It had been a long few days.. weeks? She couldn't keep track anymore. There was a fire in her chest when the meeting ended. A fire that threatened to purify, to burn away all the lies, that the world told her all of her life. Middle-Earth in her eyes was always a cold and unforgiving place. And right now her precious little girl was in the heart of it. Without a Mother to look after her. The cool, evening, breeze caressed her swarthy complexion, while she sat on the steps of the house.

She heard nothing, she never would, but it heightened all other senses, eyesight, and touch. She felt the creaking of the wooden planks. Someone approached.  Ryheric. Of course, it was Ryheric. She expected a lecture of some sort. She feared that she would be told that she was being unreasonable. That her emotions were invalid. The bard looked at her in his usual sidelong way, he did this with everyone. He did not speak right away, he sat beside her, and he made his presence known.

This gesture began to soothe her but she would not admit it. Eventually, they began a conversation, without sound. Her lips formed words and shapes it would look strange to outsiders.  However, this came as naturally as breathing to her.  They spoke of masks and colors that had no names. He saw her and she saw him. At least a little bit and in a new light. He hugged her.  He made her feel soft again. Feminine like a woman should be.

She hated being hard, and she hated being cold, but these were the walls she built to protect herself for so many years. She craved to be loved and to be watched over. She longed for love but wrestled with accepting it. Sicarra grew tired of running and at that moment, she was finally able to melt into someone's arms. She was finally able to live in the moment simply. It was a precious moment. One that she would keep to herself, one that she would not share at any cost.
