Crisis in Gondamon - The Garrison

As my first official duty as an acting officer, I was tasked with leading the stationed guard during this garrison while Thorslin took care of the outter patrol. Our garrison, consisting of the Blue Mountains Regiment, warriors of Durin's Folk and the additional aid sent from Bar-en-Acharn, was split into two battalions. The first group I was tasked with leading were the Axes. Thorslin showed me the route and positions we were to guard and I rallied my troops.

The Axes were attentive and keen. At one point they spotted movement at position 2, and I order two to investigate and return back swiftly. They reported it all clear, but for foxes and some bears. We continues our guard at other positions. As I write this might I offer a suggestion of railings or some other safeguard to the walls of Gondamon to Lord Mathi, as many of my troops in both groups slipped off. Trying to rally the troops back up after slipping incidents took up valuable time and diverted attention, and now half of our garrison is recovering from twisted ankles and sore knees. Freylis in particular fell at least twice and was particularly hard to recover once lost somewhere in the fort.

The Bows took longer to gather and organise but were very eager. Maybe a little too eager. I had to reel them back and remind them that this was guard duty. One "Snarfi" almost led them off down to the goblin encampment. That being said, they were very attentive when they found one of the other group having fell into a ditch and helped pull him out. At position 2, movement was spotted again and Zokhoso Rundod and our elf companion were sent to scout. Upon reporting back, they said they had slain some hostile wildlife and "a goblin" which, upon further inspection, was actually just a fox. At position 3 another couple of scouts were sent out and reported back a very nasty looking pack of wolves. On our way to our final position, I noticed a feral looking beast running through the east side, seemingly in pursuit of a traveler on their steed. It was put down for the safety of the fort, and we reported to the Uzbad early after this attack.

Having completed our guard and patrols, groups Axe and Bow returned to the stables to start our cookfire and gather around for some songs and a ale.
