An Unexpected Battle

All was going smoothly.

Well, as smoothly as picking up the scattered pieced of a Knight Order could be expected to go. Certainly far more smoothly than Lissi had feared.

She had received letters from those who knew the Order, or had even been a part of it before. It was good to know she was not alone. Still, she was determined to be careful. She did not plan to let the reclamation of the Order to simply die off with her.

With the attempts to write wrongs, however, danger certainly followed.

Lissilana found herself spying on some dark encampment on the outskirts of Bree-land. She had heard two of the lackeys who helped bring about the ruin, were a part of this camp.

Unfortunately, she was not prone to sneakiness, and slipped on the loose stones above the camp. This, of course, alerted the camp to her presence. It would have been better if she had not panicked and scrambled up the hill, causing more stones to fall loose. But...she did. And the stones did.

She cursed to herself quietly as she sprinted in the direction of her horse, but the thugs caught up with her. Those on horseback keeping her from escaping before those on foot caught up.

It was this moment that a mysterious stranger rode by, defeating these foes readily. Lissi had been holding her own, but she was rather outnumbered.

The battle went by quickly and Lissi's mind faded as instinct took over, causing it to be a bit of a haze.

It ended with the two of them defeating the group surrounding them, and the knight offering his hand to pull her into the saddle.

She did not have time to think through whether or not that was wise, and that he had been pierced by an arrow in his shoulder made their timing a bit more urgent as well.

The mysterious knight rode hard, but expertly. Still Lissi's mind was on the encampment. They had killed the men she sought and it bothered her. She'd been hoping to get information. But she understood that they were rather bent on dicing her up like the day's catch.

The two of them returned to Bree, where Lissi patched up the arrow wound best as she could. "If only Ashwyneth had not gone on her way to Rohan," she thought more than once, as she saw the crooked meat stitches. It was...gross.

Still, after that unpleasantness was over, she managed to have a conversation with the man who rescued her. Something in her gut told her she might be able to trust him, so she spoke vaguely of her mission.

Time has passed since this meeting, and she still has continued her work faithfully. But if she were to have an ally with that skill, it would prove quite useful. Not simply for her, but for all of Eriador.

For now, she would continue going about her work. Whether or not there were people truly standing beside her.
