Beyond the Brandywine - A Poem

The Brandywine
So very fine
It sparkles blue
In bright Sunshine

What does it hide
On the far side
Have heroes crossed?
Have many tried?

With pack in hand
And feeling grand
Just cross the bridge
Depart these lands

The road lies true
Ahead of you
The Brandywine
Now lost from view

Far out the bounds
Just walk around
And marvel at
The sights and sounds

The sights you'll see
The birds and bees
Even stranger
Are walking trees!

And mountains high
Reach to the sky
Too far to cross
And dare you try?

The rivers too
Though wide and blue
The Brandywine
Cries out to you

Though far you roam
You feel alone
And soon The Shire
Will call you home

Back to the Shire
All you desire
A nice warm tea
By a hot fire

So, Brandywine
We leave behind
We shall return
Another time
