InDrubitably A Fool

The only upside to their near frantic pace, was that Davamir could not make nearly as many annoying jokes. She was certain that, when given the opportunity, he would absolutely make a great many jabs at Furley's idiocy.

"Idiocy which I helped cause," She reminded herself, closing her eyes and patting her horse's neck as if to comfort herself.

When they finally reached the Last Bridge, she slowed and dismounted. A thoughtful frown played across her face as she walked around, looking for any sign of him.

"Odd. I could have sworn he would have stopped here for the night. He cannot possibly ride all the way through to Bree...even in his madness, he MUST know that. ...Right?"

She looked up at Davamir, who was watching her curiously. "You tracked him down once before, in the Lone Lands. You know my tracking skills in the wilds are...lacking." She straightened from where she'd been crouching and studying the ground.

Truly, she wished she had the skill. But at least the person she could trust could track. Or at least...the person she could trust the most.

Dav gave an elaborate bow with that cheeky grin of his. "As long as you're the one who said it first," he said with a wink, before moving toward the road to see if he could determine which tracks could be from Furley's steed.

Dru didn't have much hope, considering how easy it was for tracks to be disturbed on a road. But at least it had not been raining the past couple of days.

She looked up at the sky and shook her head. "It's too dark. If he's much farther than this, he's either more a fool than I thought, or he has a steed from beyond our comprehension. We rest on the bridge tonight. It will be less likely for us to be attacked, but we should still keep watch and leave early."

A lot of good knowing the direction Furley was headed did when she could not bank on just how far he'd gotten.
