Chronicle Summary
The Misadventure of Piper Goold and Family
Chronicle Content
My husband Piper and I live in a small yet cozy burrow he purchased shortly after we were married last July. He and my brother Rusty also purchased two small adjacent burrows, as well as a farmhouse with gardens. We all live together, including my aging father, as one big happy family. We raise sheep and grow vegetables and such. We are never short of vittles.
Piper hadn't much farming experience prior to our being married, but he's doing his best to help with the chores. Mostly, however, he takes on a "supervisory role", as he calls it. That's fine by me as long as he doesn't undo the good that Rusty, Father, and I have done.
Due to the warm weather we're enjoying this early spring, Piper and his three brothers--Warinbert, Childebrand, and Theudlind--decided they ought to take a fishing holiday. Every year about this time they venture off to their favorite fishing hole in some secret location. The location is so secret, in fact, that I doubt that even they are certain of its whereabouts. Fortunately, their father does, so if for reason they should become lost at least someone will be able to find them.
So early one morning off Piper went with all his gear--pole, tackle, bait, and such--as well as enough beer to keep him and his brothers jolly for a week or two. They'd all meet up in Buckland before heading to their secret fishing spot.
Piper had been gone for a week, he and his brothers must've been having some luck to be gone so long, and I was beginning to miss him something fierce. Peace and quiet is fine in small doses, but one can get a bit lonely if there's too much of it all at once. Truth be told, I began missing him as soon as he left.
