A hastily scribbled letter all the way from Bree arrives at the Doffin Family Burrow, Michel Delving.

Dear Ma Doffin,
Im sorry, Ma! It was all that mister Dobb's fault! He's a master of deception and trickery! Blame him, not me! He's led us on a wild goose chase and like FOOLS we've blindly followed him!
By the time this letter reaches you, we'll have long left for a frightful place name of the "Lone-Lands". A most grumpy scholar warned us of the eggyness that lies ahead, although I can't remember much else of the conversation.. he droned on.. and on.. and on. It made me a mite homesick for yer nagging, if truth be told, Ma.
I darent imagine how cross yer must be and.. oh Ma, I'm 'fraid to say my journey may be a slight longer than expected. Missing yer and The Shire. Give my love to Da, Daffie & Ivy, won't yer?
Love,
Dilly
