Background

[...] the invitation given to the Eldar to remove to Valinor and live unendangered by Melkor was not in fact according to the design of Eru. It arose from anxiety [and fear of Melkor], and it might be said from failure in trust of Eru. [...] And the decision of the Eldar to accept the invitation was due to the overwhelming effect of their contact, while still in their inexperienced youth, with the bliss of Aman and the beauty and majesty of the Valar. It had disastrous consequences in diminishing the Elves of Middle-earth and so depriving Men of a large measure of the intended help and teaching of their 'elder brethren', and exposing them more dangerously to the power and deceits of Melkor. Also since it was in fact alien to the nature of the Elves to live under protection in Aman, and not (as was intended) in Middle-earth, one consequence was the revolt of the Ñoldor.
— Tolkien [PE17/178]

(Art by Aurandel.)

It was the will of Eru that the Ainur should offer their blessings to the Elves, so that they could then guide Men in like manner. Yet this was not easily achieved in Arda Marred... Thus, when the summons came, the Elves faced a choice between two evils; to forsake Men to receive the blessings, or to forsake the blessings to offer Men a lesser wisdom than they should be offered.

Although divine providence later brought the blessing of Valinor back to Middle-earth, it was neither offered nor received in full. Therefore the blessed teaching of the Valar and the elder wisdom of the Avari must be united to redress this matter at long last. Indeed the Blessed Realm may learn as much from Middle-earth as it teaches, for neither is more lacking in matters of deep lore.

This shall be the purpose of our wandering company, which shall be called Eledhrim, the Starfolk, an old name for all Elves. Mentors and pupils alike, our scholars shall journey to all corners of Middle-earth to exchange wisdom with the Free Peoples. Thus our company shall become the hope of all those who wish to remain still on this side of the Great Sea in ages to come.

Currently on hiatus.

OOC Details: The wandering company of Eledhrim is an Elf-only Rank 10 kinship which offers lore-friendly "Heavy-RP" storylines to all Elves (and to Elf-friends outside the kinship), revolving around lengthy travels and scholarly endeavours. One can expect discussions on deep lore subjects to occur often during roleplay, but the purpose of the kinship allows participation for all player and character backgrounds (i.e. lacking "lore knowledge" is not a problem, since this can be redressed both in and out of character). The company (and its "Falathlorn" house) is currently based in Imladris, though we may set out on later journeys from Lórien. Our Discord server is ready for OOC planning and more. Feel free to contact Aurandel privately for more information.]
