Song of the Morning

Yende learned this song a long time ago, a song of one of the companies she fought in. Though a hopeful-sounding song, this makes the heart of a soldier sad... because they remember who they shall not see again in the morning.

Through the midnight hour we have stood and watched,
For the fires of war and siege,
But through dark and cold we shall not despair
For the dawn shall come again.
And the sky will light and the mists shall rise
And the world will wake to dawn,
And the sky shall light and the mists shall part
And the light will bring the morn.

In the east the skies will soon show the change
And the grey of dawn will come,
And a silver rim shall soon grace the clouds
To announce the coming sun.
And the stars shall fade and the sky shall light
And the sky will fade to grey,
And the birds shall rise their song in praise
To the light of the newborn day.

There was ever a morning as peaceful as this,
Full of glory in bright new light.
Full of life and song and of reborn grace,
In the shining morning light.
In that morning light I shall see you again,
And the morning sun shall rise,
In the morning light I shall see you again...
And the morning sun shall rise.
