A Day in Imladris

Nindis was sitting on a rather comfortable oak branch reaching and arching over the Bruinen. Water was rolling below her as the Sun's golden light fell on her tresses like a waterfall. There was birdsong in the trees. Wind was playing on the shining flowers, making colours dance on the earth. The World was young again.

Then she heard Linglorel's voice, calling to her. Nindis lightly slipped down the oak and met the elf-maiden by the Last Homely House. She was greatly distressed, Nindis could feel her unrest and wanted to inquire more. They met at the East Porch where Linglorel shared her secret with her.

This time Nindis held back her feelings. She knew what could befall Linglorel if she went on walking the path she was, yet she knew that the paths Fate had woven were never to be foreseen, not by many at least.

There still was hope and much to be discovered. Nindis secretly hoped that there was something wrong or misunderstood, an illusion to be uncovered so that she can free Linglorel from the grasp of this bitter sweet fate. She determined herself to meet this man who was courageous enough to walk into the elvenhome and claim the hand of the beloved maiden.

A few days later there was the feast of the Hall of Fire where the elves met their guests from near and far. Songs were sang, there was dancing and much laughter, yet still a shadow hanging over the hall for Nindis, for her mind was full of questions and an urgency to find a way to free Linglorel. There she met Radclyfe , the Dunadan whom Linglorel had spoken of.

After the feast and merriments, Nindis  met with the young couple at the Resting Rooms.

Her face was cold as marble and her voice was but a wind from an icy cavern.

- What makes you believe that your arrogance is to be forgiven  ?

She asked. The young man was taken by surprise, for he probably was not waiting for a confrontation in Imladris where their secret was still unknown.  There was danger, great danger for them both here in Imladris. Nindis believed that some elves she knew would not suffer a man drive Linglorel into a fate of sundering. Yet there was no lie in his eyes. At last Nindis felt the power and beauty of their union. In this union there was hope unknown, there was something yet to be born and not to be foreseen.  She knew not what would befall them. So she warned them both very strictly  and bade them to hide in the secret places of the world.

Yet, she knew that they would take the dangerous path and the perilous road...
