A moment with you

Lately, she felt jaded, longing for something. But she could not place what it was.  Aellwenn sits by her front window as the rain beats against the glass. Spring is coming to a close, soon, the flowers in her garden in full bloom, if she were to go outside she would be greeted with the fragrance of rain and plant combined.  She always thought mother nature to be beautiful.  However, right now, there was nothing that drew her out into that air.

'Take your time.' Dirtar's words resound in her head like a clamoring bell.  She looks down at her hands that lie across her lap. The wedding ring that she never could bring herself to do away with still gleaming in the candlelight. How could she take her time? It was five years since Raymond passed. And longer still that she has been away from home. But what is home? Was there ever a home? There was so much pain in her heart. However, there was love, too. If it was one thing she knew about herself it was that, despite any adversity that she had. She always would love people unconditionally. Whether it be platonic in nature or romantic.  To stagger backward again... would end a new chapter before it could even begin. Her contemplations were interrupted, when she felt someone climbing up into her lap, it was her boy.

"Maybe I can make you happy Mama." the boy innocently retorts. He never woke up right at dawn, but today seemed to be an exception. Her brows knit together at those words "What makes you think I am sad little knight? And who said you don't make me happy?"

Freawine sighed and looked up at his Mother "Well.. you were sitting by the window. You do that a lot when you're thinking about daddy or bad things that happened."

She stroked his hair and said in reply "And how do you know I was thinking about daddy?"

Freawine shrugged and replied "You have the ring on. It's not a new one so it has to be from daddy."

She rests her head on top of her boy's staring out the window "That's enough of such talk. Let us just enjoy the early morning together hm? Mama is weary."

Freawine was not easily convinced "You need to be happy for me mama."

"That's enough, you're too young, to be worrying about Mama little knight. I will be fine."

The rain continued. Mother and son staring gloomily out at the misty morn.
