"There is a fire in her spirit, a fire that has not been seen since the days of Eorl the young." The elleth said as she hovered over the balcony, looking down at the luxurious streets of Dol Amroth.
"Yes, you've mentioned this before. But remember, there is a hierarchy. Do not let our lordship hear you speak of his youngest as if she is the one to lead the charge. Surely you know that the lords and ladies of mankind are not always reasonable? I only speak out of concern for your utmost well-being. Your foresight and wisdom are appreciated; however, I'm afraid that those insights may sometimes need to be treasured in your heart." Said, Kenneth.
"We both have our duties to this family, Kenneth. I would be grateful if you would not tell me how to do mine. You should be glad that I know your heart is in the right place. Now, if I remember correctly, you are to meet Father Landgrave for morning prayer. You wouldn't want to be smacked by his walking stick again, now would you?" the elf chided.
"That was only once! One of the other squires decided it would be amusing to put a frog in my boot before the morning rite! I make no apologies for my retaliation." Kenneth protested.
The elleth smiled warmly at her companion, much like a Mother would at a child. "So you say, go on now. And may The Father of All guide you."
Kenneth bowed his head to her in reverence "And you! Please give Aldway my regards. I'll prove my mettle yet!"
Melodic laughter escaped her lips "Did our lord even promise you her hand yet?"
"Nay, he did not. But this is how a boy becomes a man, yes? Through action and determination!" He waved a hand in parting and left his elven friend on the balcony that stretched out from the study.
She shook her head in amusement as he left "Perhaps so. But will it be enough?" A sigh followed the question. "To the garden, it is time to keep little Aellwenn company."
As the Elf maid turned, there was a sudden fuss in the library, and a servant came running up to her. "Oh, mistress! The children are in the garden again, and well... little Aellwenn broke a boy's nose. I don't know what his name is. But I turned around to see Aldway getting the little brat off of him! You're so good with the children. I thought it would be best to come to get you," the maid exclaimed.
Vaháyawen let a smirk curl along her plump red lips. "That, my dear, is the fire of Eorl shining through her. But I will see what can be done. I am certain this is but another small scuffle between little ones. Six summers and already trying to challenge the world and its ways. Don't worry, we shall make a lady out of her yet."
[Author's note. While I am aware that Tolkien never specifically stated that there were gatherings or services to Eru the main deity of Middle-Earth. I did not think it would be entirely unbelievable for the Highborn of Gondor to worship him and show their devotion toward him. I tried to take a more medieval turn on this story. I see Gondor as the capital of Man's strength and as that country in Middle-Earth has so much history it seemed fitting for me to embellish on the lore of this deity that Tolkien didn't speak of all that often. And yes, this tale is more of a story from her past, do not look for these people in-game as they aren't played by anyone currently. Thanks for reading!]
