On the Subject of Names

One of the Noldor, who has seen the Light of the Two Trees, this high elf is aged and old. Thus, it makes sense that she would carry many, many names.

Alasiel.
Quenya: Day Maiden.
"I am Alasiel. A pleasure to meet you, hir!"
The Quenya mother name given to her when she was born in Tirion in the Years of the Trees. Alasiel bore the name until Quenya was banned in Beleriand, then changed it to her Sindarin version.

Aurthiel.
Sindarin: Day Maiden.
"I'm Aurthiel."
The Sindarin version of Alasiel. After all this time, after all these years, this is still the primary name she goes by. It is the name she usually introduces herself by. It is somewhat ironic, as Aurthiel was never a positive thinker.

Airthauriel.
Sindarin: Lonely foul maiden.
"Father, what is that run down, overgrown house on the hill? Does anyone even live there?"
"Ah, that is the dwelling of Airthauriel. She is an isolated hag who does nothing but drink and hunt orcs. No friends, no warmth. Do not become her, my child. She is a scourge."
A derogatory, mocking name bestowed upon her in the early Second Age, as she gained a reputation as an outcast, idle drunkard with no friends or social interaction. Aurthiel never uses the name for herself and is embarrassed by it. It faded out of use as she regained a more positive reputation. Now, it is only occasionally used by those who remember as an insult.

Gologdrok.
Orc tongue: Noldo Demon.
Orkish tribes have muttered tales of a vengeance fueled high elf, dressed in dark armor. From the ruins of Beleriand, this shadowed hunter exterminated countless feral goblins and orcs within the remaining mountains of Ered Luin. The champion slew entire tribes alone, within her own agony and hatred for all Morgoth's creations cost.

Golodhmiriel.
Sindarin: Noldor Jewel Maiden.
"I am Golodhmiriel of the Gwaith-i-Mirdain."
She earned this Sindarin name in Eregion and bore it proudly. The dwarves are most likely to know her by this name, as she used it to interact with the dwarves of Khazad-Dum back in the day. Many elves who lived in Eregion then travelled elsewhere are likely to remember her by this name. After Eregion fell, she did not have the heart to keep using the name and returned to Aurthiel. She still responds to the name, however, and uses it introducing herself to dwarves.

Gwathpenel.
Sindarin: Shadowed one, stained one.
"I am Aurthiel, known as Gwathpenel to your kin."
Despite introducing herself as Aurthiel in her adventures in Rhovonian, Aurthiel had soon been dubbed Gwathpenel, the shadowed one. This was for her tendencies to wear dark, grim clothing and armor, as well as her more grim and emotional disposition. Aurthiel responds to this name and even introduces herself as "Aurthiel, Gwathpenel" to any elves of Rhovonian she meets. She has joked that "shadow" fits her more than "day," despite her personal clinging to the Sindarin variant of her mother name.
