Two slim silhouette trail of into the shadows of Tham Mirdain. Her companion was so quiet that Reiven had to keep reminding herself she was not alone.
“This is it!” whispered Lord Gladrid, snapping Reivens’ attention back to the present “The school of Tham Mirdain”
She looked at the walls reaching out into the darkness and felt its loneliness. “Once” said Galrid “the school and the library held much of the knowledge of the early age”
“And that is why we are here” thought Reiven nodding slowly.
“Although Lord Elrond was carried away most of the surviving lore…” Galdrid continued talking in whispers while they were moving into the central halls of the School “I’m hoping to…”
He raised his hand suddenly to stop his companion “Listen!” he whispered and Reiven noticed the echoing footsteps. “Three or more..”
Reiven frowned “But why do they here?”
“Perhaps.. seeking the remnants”
Both grimaced as the slight breeze carried the smell of smoke “and burning the rest!” Galdrid clenched his fists “we must hurry…”
Reiven nodded slowly as following his lead. With a bit of luck and help of the darkened halls they managed to pass some of the patrols. But it didn’t last long. When they entered the main library of the school a party of enemy was there to burn what had been left behind. Time seemed crawled slowly as each group staring the other. An Orc let out a wild yell and the twang of a bowstring followed it. Galdrid drew his sword ready and blocked up the flying arrow. “Stand back!” shouted at Reiven as he was rushing into fight. He spun round and slew the first opponent with one mighty swing and kicked the other one back. In the meantime Reiven stood like stunned and watched them fighting wildly. Another twang of a bowstring brought her through the reality. She felt her blood starts to burn in her veins as clenching her slim fingers around the hardened wooden staff and began to whisper long-forgotten words, calling on ancient powers of earth and air to aid them in their desperate plight. A strong wind came from nowhere, twirled around the bowman causing to mystify his target and gave Reiven the opportunity to hit with her staff leaving him behind unconscious. The fight was a short ride and Galdrid spoke heavily “We must not stay here for long, another party might arrive soon”. Still they searched the remnants and saved a few relics of burning yet the one which Galdrid was looking for was not there “Perhaps” he said as they were leaving the ruins behind “The relic may be hidden in the library of Tham Mirdain. But this time we must be back fully prepared”
