A Letter from Radawen to Aranuir

Dear Aranuir,

firstly I want to apologize for my harsh words the last time we talked. I still feel betrayed by you, and I am still determined that this is something I must do, for reasons I don’t feel comfortable explaining to you. That said, some of the things I said in the heat of a moment were uncalled for, and I apologize for them.

I have news for you. I was in the Hall of the Gentle Hand this morning, infiltrated among the crowd that came to see Romenstar (the crowd is getting bigger every day) and I witnessed a miracle. There was a woman who’s spine was horrifically twisted, like nothing I have ever seen before. Romenstar touched this woman with his staff, and her spine straightened. I mean it straightened there under my very eyes! The woman could hardly walk with two canes before, but after that she was dancing before the dozens of people gathered there. The crowd went wild, you should have seen it! Even Romenstar looked amazed at what he had done.

I’m staying here, and I’m not returning to the Houses of Lore when I’m done. You broke my trust, and trust cannot be mended after it’s been broken. I will go back to Linhir where I came from when this business with Romenstar is over. But because of our old friendship I feel like I should share with you what I’ve learned here. I owe you that much, for all the counsel and mentorship you have shown me.

I have talked to the Chief Healer of the Hall of the Gentle Hand, Maegon. Romenstar is writing a diary, and the white wizard Saruman from Isengard has sent an emissary here. He’s called Martun, a Dunlending. A chilly-looking fellow. Also interested in Romenstar, of course.

One more thing. I have met a man. It’s not what you think… at least I don’t think so. I like him, but I’m not sure if I can trust him yet. His name is Delioron. He claims to have been a lore-master in the Houses of Lore closer to two decades ago. Left eighteen years ago, I think is what he said. Could you please check it out for me? I find it hard to trust new people after everything that has happened to me recently.

Sincerely,

Radawen
