Lore of the Dragon Queen: A Scholar's Rhyme

The Dragon Queen, in Bazylan,

Enthroned beneath the olive tree,

In gardens where the waters ran

And East-man's eye looked far and free.

From thence she struck, and justice dealt

To Westron's folly by the sea.

Before the East's upturning, by

The red eye and the silver tree.

The Dragon Queen, in Atalak,

The city of the golden street,

Did good men levy into war

Whence West-man fell beneath her feet.

For in those lands she earned her name,

The queen who wielded dragon's fire.

But long ago she fell to naught,

And left the way for Gondor's ire.

The Dragon Queen, in Rhúnost, where

The sea-foam strikes the Eastern shore,

Entombed beneath an olive tree

Recalled to places of ancient lore.
