Entry 22: Evergreen

We hired a few dwarves to bring in a giant yule tree for our main room downstairs, and Leoffrith and I spent the evening decorating it. It's our second Yule together and I found a box of old decorations we brought from his old home, though we did not have any ornaments because we didn't have the room for a tree last year. It's also Devi's first Yule, and I can't wait to spoil her completely this year with a hundred presents.

A blanket of snow lays over our yard and the entire sleepy neighborhood. Tucked away into the very back, we aren't surrounded by other houses as we once were, and it feels like our own tiny little winter wonderland. I'm hoping to take Devi to Frostbluff the next time Leoffrith doesn't go to Miss Nettle's for his lessons, I've already bought her a nice winter coat and we'll wrap her up real snugly.

I don't think the dwarves can continue on the barn now that winter had really begun, but I'm eager for it to be finished. At the same time, I want the season to go on forever, and for the little town to be blanketed in snow for several long months. As much as I love my summer gowns and going swimming and having picnics, there is something absolutely magical about building snowmen and making angels.

We spent the rest of the evening after the tree-decorating tangled up together by the hearth in our room, Devi sleeping soundly.
