Event details:
This gathering of elven kin of Lindon will congregate in the early evening and witness the changing of the sky to darkness and twinkling stars. We will make our way together with lanterns, stories, songs and wine throughout the dark evening, all the while reflecting on who we are and where we have come from with mirth and good cheer.
♦ This is a lore friendly, elf only roleplaying event.
♦ Dress appropriately in gowns and robes for a long winter night celebration beneath the stars.
♦ No armour, weapons, pets, or fireworks.
♦ Feel free to bring lore friendly music, poems and stories to share. Since the theme is about the stars, use that as inspiration.
♦ It is recommended that you obtain a lantern for your character to hold. This one: https://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Item:Lantern These can sometimes be found on the auction house or ask on the /trade channel. We also have a few extra we can loan to those who may not have one. Supplies are limited though, so please try to obtain one on your own.
♦ Be timely! The time of the event is scheduled to follow the in-game day/night cycle so please be timely in your attendance. Night time lasts for 1hr and 23mins. We will not wait for late-comers before starting because we want to be in sync with the in-game night cycle. We’re praying this has been calculated correctly. If for some reasons the day-night cycle we planned for is off in calculation, we will improvise. The show must go on.
Inspiration for the Event:
This event is meant to reflect the love the elves have had for the stars since their awakening in Cuiviénen and the tales passed down of the beauty of those days before the sun and moon were even thought of. For many years they lingered and dwelled merrily on the shores of that bay in perpetual twilight. Those days are long behind us, though an image of them could be seen in the longest night of the year, where the elves gather and revel under the stars.
While this event essentially celebrates the stars on the solstice, please note that this is not the actual date of the real life solstice. It is to be imagined, in-character, that it is though.
This event is not based on a specific lore based holiday, but it is lore friendly in spirit. It is meant to be festive and cheerful while also honouring Elbereth’s stars in the night sky and the origin of our elven kin with mature reverence.
How to Attend:
To attend, you must contact us prior to the event and we’ll give you further details. As previously mentioned, this is an elf only, lore friendly RP event. Use the contacts listed at the end of this page, or use in-game mail, or Discord to let us know your interest. When you contact us, give us the name of the character you wish to bring and tell us a little something about the character. Or link your LA character profile.
If you wish to share music, stories or poems, they must be lore and genre friendly. This is immersive elven RP in Arda, NOT a high school AD&D campaign tossed together “for the LOLs”. Example: no Led Zepplin tunes you think are cool please. Modern rock/pop/etc music is not permitted. When in doubt, find ABC files of Enya, harp music, or celtic style tunes, or classical music. Poems, stories, and lyrics must be something one would reasonably hear from Elves in Middle-Earth. If you’re going to borrow something to share for the sake of RP, it’s advisable to review the wording and edit it to fit Middle-Earth.
