Dear Turuviel,
you were right in urging me onwards to Thorin's Hall and i did make it just in the nick of time.
When i received word of the expedition to the dwarves, i had just arrived at Celondim with the group i was guiding. Your encouragement to press onward changed my mind and, without rest, i pushed for Thorin's.
Our kinsmen were already there for a long while as I arrived the night before the scheduled departure. But i did have time to enjoy the dwarves' ale.
In the morning, i received my duties from Lord Tindir to organize the baggage train and care for horses and supplies.
Lucky for me, i may have a bit of edge in this department, but i must be careful nevertheless. This mission that our Kin is undertaking seems to be of some importance and that not only to our scholars who seemed giddy with their discoveries in the region.
It was about noon when we set ourselves in motion, following the road downhill. We had luck with the good weather, although the days grow shorter and shorter. The horses were rested and well fed, though the snow made several passages near Noglond a bit troublesome for our more inexperienced travelers.
For a bit i was worried we would not make it in time, but we managed to get our rest at Gondamon, as is customary for the trade route. Unfortunately, my contacts there are... actually none, but we managed to get a decent price for bedding, horse feed and all the rest.
Today we started very early for the last leg of our journey to Duillond. It is indeed a good rest that i will be getting tonight, among our kin, in comfortable beds and with good food.
May this letter find you well, my friend. I shall write again as i get the chance.
Yours,
Eryllin.
