Have you seen them?
The summer flowers wilt and break as the warm weather turns to cold, biting winds. The sun does not shine as much as it used to. The days are shorter and the lands turn from green and gold, to gray and drab.
And the sea? Have you seen our beloved sea? It is wrought with storms and no longer offers its safety.
I ask if you have seen all of these things, as if you have no sight. But is it true? Have you taken the time to notice these things?
I suppose you haven't.
You never did take the time to appreciate all that was there. Not the kindness and beauty of the land, nor what you had right in front of you.
All of the changes I see remind me of you. Is this why I am suddenly noticing these changes so distinctly?
It is not as if you might care about those things anyway. You do not have the capability.
Maybe you once did. But all those cares are gone now. I can see it in your eyes. You have changed. And perhaps so have I. But it is not the fault of the flowers or the winds. It is not the fault of the changing seasons. I do not know why you changed. But you must know why I have.
The seasons are changing. Winter will be cold this year. Colder than last year, don't you think? Nothing good will come with it, but I wonder what the spring will bring.
