The Warband of Imladris ride West - Part V

And so did the Warband aid the figure atop Amon Sul, the battle was fierce as the howling winds ripped around those gathered in defense of this ancient place. An unnatural chill was felt by all those gathered, even those of elf kind,a sure sign the cold was something more unnatural than just thw wind coming down from the mountains. With peace now restored to ancient stones the fellowship made their way to the encampment at the base of the ancient knoll. There they took the chance to warm their bodies and share a cup of spiced wine offered round by the ranger which was welcomed by all present. A short time later they were seen riding away from the base of Amon Sul, and it was not long before they saw the lights from the Forsaken Inn. The inn always seemed to be in a poor state of repair and there was the usual smell associated with such establishments which was not well received by the elven among their company. The fellowship gathered by the roaring fire the menkind among their party relishing its heat on their cold bodies. Khalis sought out the barkeep and ordered food and drink for his companions. Some went straight to their bedrolls and others stayed by the fire, but none could face the food that was brought out to them. A few picked at the meals but most chose to break into their supply of lembas. Khalis noted a couple sat up at the table by the barkeep, one man and one woman. The woman was dressed for travelling and held small child wrapped in heavy warm cloth close to her. It was the man who drew Khalis’ eye for he was armoured in black leather. It was evident it was well kept and also had seen much service. This man was keeping a watchful eye on the elven company from Imladris, so Khalis chose to speak with him.
