The patient has left my care.
He asked that I cut and trim his hair before leaving. Not a request I had expected, but I obliged. For the past week he has been unusually quiet, this time was no different.
I can only assume that he's still shaken from the hallucinations the medicine brought forth. He refuses to speak of it, but I still recall the yells and fear that woke me that night. The bruise that he managed to leave. It still puts me at unease to think how I may have ended had I been alone with the man in his state of fear and delusions of danger, bringing with it a dire need for survival. We've not spoken on the matter and it may be for the best.
I've prepared a weaker medicine for the man to have with him, should the pain continue. He has given me his word that the debt shall be paid overtime, that I shall have what coin he manages to earn. I agreed.
It's strange to think that these men do not carry or care much for coin, that it's a second thought to them. While I, and others, keep logs on what is earned and what is spent, needing to assure ourselves that there shall be enough for the next week.
At times I wish to know this state of mind where coin is of no concern.
I've yet to speak with Catalinna about her absence that night. It's was unusual. I've managed to translate my grandfather's recipes, she may find it all of interest.
I continue to debate whether to travel or not, it may be a poor time to do so when winter is so close, but perhaps I might be able to return before the snowfall becomes to heavy to travel through.
For now I'll turn my focus towards cooking, or at least attempting to learn it. These medicinal meals may prove worth experimenting with. I'll have to make deals with any merchant travelling through the eastern region and south to keep a steady supply of these spices, but I should be able to get the majority of what I need from the local markets.
