The Lady Finch (Click to Listen)
This is Ryheric's theme for a story he heard told by Gregwald.
To the best of Ryheric's memory, the tale was about a lady finch, hatched in captivity from an egg. The birds nest was found perched on the shoulder of a troll, turned to stone.
The lady finch came to love a human knight, and she would sing her heart out for him. Unfortunately, he opted to cage her. Her heart was broken as all her time was wiled away behind bars. One day the knight did not return from a journey.
The lady finch was set free, and perhaps her love for the knight would have led her to find him and lead others to him, or lead him back to safety. But instead of finding him, she grew distracted in her freedom, and found her own kind, with whom she flew forever after.
